Hi, I'm Margie Boynton. I am a full time artist. Eventually you do quit your day job and commit full force into what you love and were created to do. Making things. It is the very first thing I do from the moment I wake up to the moment I'm asleep.
I have been an artist my entire life, brought up in a family of artists in Annapolis, Maryland. My father, Lee Boynton is a professional watercolorand oil painter, teacher, author of a book and my creative colleague.
Its important to me to create to the very best of my ability, using the best possible materials to achieve that purpose. That means starting over several times having learned of a more appropriate material to achieve your goal.
For me, art is just as much as a material exploration as it is a creative one. Often times I have an idea and have to fine tune the search for the correct material. I have a lot of integrity about what I do.
I work in a wide array of materials. Some of my favorites are ceramics, oil painting, spray painting, sewing. paper construction, drawing, print making, fabric dye, wood and metal.
I am in love with the creative process. I think its exciting for me to not constrain myself to anyone thing as a person or an artist.
I'm lucky enough to be living in a lovely old house built in 1870 that has been in my family for over five generations. Its an old family home where my grandma grew up and it has so many stories, her stories about people going off to war and her father who was an admiral in the navy.
I have turned this house into my work in progress. Every room has an art project in it. I dream about restoring the house and starting an art center there with my family
